Kinlee and Blake drove to Salt Lake City, November 1st, stayed in a hotel in Utah then flew to San Diego, California on November 2nd. They were picked up at the airport by the bus from the Bariatric Surgey place in Mexico for gastric bypass surgery on Monday. That day they ran a lot of tests and did tell her there was a little abnormality with her heart, but it wasn't anything they were worried about, but just in case they were going to do an ekg just to make sure it was safe to continue with the surgery. They did continue with the surgery and everything went great. The did tell her before they did the surgery that her heart skips a beat, which is normal in our world because Ray's has done that his entire life. She Facetimed us that evening when she was fully alert and told us then about the skipping issue, but like they told her everything looked good. That was the last time we talked to her. I didn't call her the next morning because I didn't want to bother her and had snapped her to tell her to call me when she was awake. Ray called me right after the Devotional on campus which was roughly 12:30 and told me he was close by my work so he was going to stop by and see me for a minute (which is he NEVER done before). I asked him what was wrong and he told me nothing. Well that was obviously not the truth. He got to my office and I could tell something was wrong. He knelt down by my desk and told me that Kinlee had had some complications with her heart and Blake had called him to tell him it didn't look good. We felt like they really kept Blake in the dark and didn't update him like they should have, but come to find out she didn't have a pulse for 22 minutes and they had to shock her heart twice. But they were able to do CPR the entire time. He told us that he thought they would be medevacing her out within the hour. Which turned out to be several hours that they didn't update him on her status. We did finally find out that she was intubated. Ray had already contacted Brooke to help him find tickets to California because they would be moving her to SHARP hospital there. She was looking for tickets for him and Blake's mom Brandy. He thought I needed to stay home and get some things together, like myself, before I flew out. They got a flight out of Idaho Falls at 3:50 that would land at 8:00 in San Diego so she booked that and a rental car. We left my office and met at home and got him packed to fly. Jerika and Lyvi came over and so did my mom (who was a terrible wreck). While we just waited for updates, Nakia and Kaitlyn came over with Tatum and that helped kill some time. Blake called and said they had decided to take her via ambulance instead of flying her, but it still took forever to get her across the border. They made him pay $6100 to the hospital for her care that day before he could leave the hospital. And then he called me as they were getting her loaded on the ambulance because they wouldn't transport her until we paid them $550. So I venmoed him that money so we could get the help we needed and get her in the US. The arrived at the hospital about an hour before Ray got here.
While we were waiting an home feeling completely useless we amazingly found the missionaries and they came to the hospital and gave her a blessing. As some of you know if you call a church building nobody usually answers. But we called a random church building that just appeared on Jerika's phone and they answered the phone and got us the missionaries number. We called them and they headed straight to the ER. They sent me an email after the blessing was over and this is what they said "She's okay now. We gave her a blessing and from we gathered she'll be okay".
Ray and Brandy arrived probably a couple hours after the missionaries. My mom, Jerika and Lyvi spent the night that night.
I'm exhausted, I will continue the post later.
