As most of you who read my blog know, Jerika and I went to Wicked in Salt Lake in August. For those of you who don't know what Wicked is, it is a play about the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz and her youth. You can't take pictures inside the theater (even though I did with my cell phone), so these are all outside and notice we are wearing different clothes in some of the pictures. Which is also a funny story and here it goes.....
My amazing friend Jana got us tickets last year through the school district so, we have known for a year that we were going and so excited.
We met Jana and 13 other people on Wednesday at PF Changs (picture above) in Salt Lake and had dinner there. We actually changed our clothes in the car before dinner. I had taken the rest of the week off, but needed to get Jerika back to Idaho for Youth Conference on Friday...as per her father. It was imperative that she go, so our time was limited.
After dinner we walked the few blocks to the theater and got in line. Some of the group had gotten in line ahead of us and instead of going in, they started walking back toward us. Well, the tickets Jana had gotten had 2 different dates on them. Ten of us had tickets for the next night and 4 of the others had tickets for that night. Jana was mortified, she felt so bad that she hadn't looked through the tickets, but this had never happened to her before when she bought tickets. Anyway, the 10 of us were staying Utah that night anyway, so we all arranged to stay an extra night and go the next night.
This is Jerika, Morgan (Jana's daughter) and Kaylee a friend we met last year. This is outside the Cheesecake Factory, which is where we decided to go and pickup dessert to take back to Janas house. Notice Jerika is dressed in a skirt and the others are not. We had no idea what to wear, so the next night we knew we could dress down a little. We also had to go shopping to buy new clothes for the next night since we hadn't packed accordingly.
We had time the next day to go shopping and Ashlin and Matt both had the day off so they got to spend the day with us, it was so much fun. Jana's son Riley went shopping with us and he was so good all day. Even when his mom had an appointment and he was with just the 4 of us. He was such a good sport.
This was part of our group on the second night (the night we actually went). Morgan must have been taking the picture. The lady in the green shirt is Shar, she is one of Jana's friends that lives in Utah and she was such a sweetheart.
Wicked witch and the Good witch. I am talking about the poster. Before the show.
Afterward waiting for Shar and Jana to look at the t-shirts and stuff. When we first got there and got seated, I kept hoping that I wasn't disappointed after all the hype. Well, I am here to tell you that it was worth the hype and the people that were in it had amazing voices. It was well worth the $70 we paid for the tickets.
After the show
Me, Jerika, Morgan and Jana. Morgan is the one that survived breast cancer last year. We had so much fun spending time with them, we really don't see them enough.
Friday morning we had to get up early to leave so we could get Jerika home in time for Youth Conference. We stayed at Jana's both nights and they were all so accomodating. It was an experience neither Jerika or I will soon forget.
